Alessandro Nusiner of excellent performance with just six runs in this activity the championship fight to the last lap of the race in which he came second place and that allowed him to be crowned champion of the category rotax micro max.
Alessandro since last Monday began to train very hard to make his first participation in the Florida Winter Tour Tag Cadet in the category that will be held at Homestead, Miami the second week of January 2014.
Although Zach Banks, 15, clinched the points championship for the Fall Championship Series with 2 races to go, he looked determined as ever to win a 7th consecutive race in the PRD Junior class. Banks, a rookie, claimed 2nd position (+0.096s) behind veteran Christian Muñoz in the only qualifying heat of the weekend.
After an intense 4-way battle between Christian Muñoz, Seve DiPinto, Michael Benyahia, and Zach Banks in the Pre-Final, lapped traffic proved to be a hazard. Midway through the Pre-Final, an overlapped kart failed to maintain position whilst being passed by the leaders, forcing Muñoz to wildly swerve to the inside, touching wheels with DiPinto, who was sent spinning and flipping. The Pre-Final ultimately was cancelled before the scheduled end of the race, as it was learned DiPinto had broken bones in the violent crash. DiPinto was attended to by an EMT squad located at the track, and subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
After a combined delay of 90+ min., events at Homestead-Miami Speedway would soon resume. Anxious to suit up for the Final race, teammates Jesse Tourino and Zach Banks passed the time by watching their teammate battle for the points championship in the Micro Novice class. Alessandro Nusiner ultimately came up short, finishing 2nd to 1st-time champion Alex Popow by only 7 points. Nusiner only needed to finish one position ahead of Popow to be crowned champion, and was less than a tenth of a second behind Popow at the conclusion of Sunday’s final.
Starting 3rd in his Final, Banks quickly made his way to first place, with Muñoz and Benyahia in tow. The rookie faced mechanical problems midway through the race, making it impossible to keep up with the blisteringly fast pace of the other front runners. Banks, still running strong, nursed the kart to a 3rd place overall finish (snapping a streak of 6 consecutive wins), with teammate Jesse Tourino close behind in 4th.
